My Story
I was a high-level competitive gymnast throughout my childhood and went on to compete for the University of Michigan Women’s gymnastics team on a full-ride scholarship. While I experienced great success in the sport, I also faced challenges with the mental side of competing, including nerves, mental blocks and recovering from injury.
During high school and college, I worked closely with a sports psychologist, who remains one of my biggest mentors and support to this day. It was during my work with her that I began to realize just how powerful the mind is. Between my junior and senior year of college, I experienced a career-ending injury that led to me retiring from gymnastics earlier than expected. It was during this time that I developed a strong passion for mental health. Volunteering at the children’s hospital on campus introduced me to the field of social work, and it is through that that I found my true calling: helping people become the best versions of themselves.
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 and completed my Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2016. I have been a licensed social worker in the state of Michigan since 2016.
For much of grad school and even early in my career, I didn’t see myself doing individual counseling. But life has a funny way of leading you where you belong. In 2019, I transitioned to private practice and realized I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I started by own private practice in 2022 and truly cherish every client I’ve had the privilege to work with. Being part of my clients’ journeys - both the challenges and the successes - is something I don’t take for granted. I often tell my clients that the biggest compliment is when they say they no longer need me because that means they’ve reached their goals and are thriving.
